The Throat center

Speaking and doing: what comes out of you and into the world.

Defined

What several sources agree on
  • The throat is the crossroads of the chart. Every other center tries to express itself through it.
  • The tone of your speech depends on which center links to your throat: your mind, will, motor or instinct.
  • Even with a steady voice, your way of deciding tells you when to speak up and when to stay quiet.
  • You readily share opinions and suggestions, for yourself and for others.

Open

What several sources agree on
  • You've got several possible voices, and the challenge is using the ones that really sound like you.
  • Speaking on a whim, at the wrong moment, often means you don't get heard.
  • You can talk about a plan without being bound to follow through on it.
  • You can put into words for a group what people can't manage to say themselves.
Defined (colored in)

Your way of expressing yourself is recognizable and fairly consistent. People know what to expect when you speak up.

Open (white)

Your voice shifts depending on who you're with, which gives you real flexibility. The trap is talking to fill silences or to get noticed, and saying things that don't sound like you.

This center is defined when at least one of the channels below is complete. 27 of the 40 people in our collection have it defined.

Its 11 gates

Its 13 channels

Channel 1-8

Signed work

You need your work to carry your fingerprints, and seeing you do it nudges others to find their own style.

The voice people follow

People tend to look to you for which way to go, especially once they have picked you to lead.

Channel 10-20

Me, here, now

Who you are comes straight out in what you say and do, with little filter and no image management.

Channel 11-56

Idea storyteller

Ideas, anecdotes, memories: you collect them and love telling them in a way that gets people thinking.

Mood-led voice

How you speak depends a lot on your mood, and when the timing is right, you really reach people.

Mastery through repetition

Whatever you repeat with real enthusiasm, you eventually get very good at, and it shows.

Channel 17-62

The tidy opinion

You form a view and can lay it out point by point, with the facts to back it.

Channel 20-34

Always in motion

Your drive shows up as immediate action: you do it, right now, and people notice.

Channel 20-57

Spoken hunch

A gut feeling passes through and you say it out loud on the spot, often with uncanny accuracy.

Channel 21-45

Group steward

Running the logistics and the supplies suits you, and the group usually does better for it.

Channel 23-43

Flash, then translate

New ideas hit you out of nowhere, and you need to make them simple before anyone can follow.

Hunger for living

Try everything at least once: that is your pull, and each experience leaves you a little wiser.
