In short
- No account, no name, no email to see your chart.
- Your birth details are used for the calculation and are not stored. The only exception: charts you choose to save in your account.
- An account is optional. You can download your data or delete your account yourself, at any time, from your account page.
- No cookies, no ad trackers. We count visits anonymously, without storing anything on your device.
- Your email only if you ask to be told when full readings open. We never sell your data.

What we process, and why
Birth date, time and city. You enter them to get your chart (or two charts for compatibility). Our server receives them, computes the planet positions and sends back the result. It does not write them anywhere: no database, no file. Legal basis: providing the service you ask for (GDPR article 6.1.b).
These details also appear in the address of the result page, so you can bookmark or share it. They therefore stay in your browser history, and in the link if you send it to someone.
Your account, if you create one. The account lets you keep charts and find your purchases. It has no password: you sign in with a link sent by email. We then keep your email, the dates the account was created and last used, your language and whether you want our news. On top of that, only what you add or buy: the charts you save (the name you give them, birth date, time if you know it, city, the city’s coordinates and time zone), your purchases, your compatibility credits and your readings. A chart is saved only if you click “Save this chart”. If you save someone else’s chart, do it with their agreement. Legal basis: providing the service you ask for (article 6.1.b). Retention: until you delete your account, which you do yourself from your account page, or until you delete a chart before that.
When you delete your account, everything is erased right away: account, charts, credits, readings, and your email from the news list. Only the record of your purchases stays in our accounting, without your email or any link to you, for as long as the law requires (10 years at most).
Referrals, if you have an account. Your account has an invite link. If someone creates an account with it, we keep who invited whom (both accounts), then the reward once granted: its date and one free compatibility for each of you, added to your credits. It is granted when the invited person has confirmed their email and saved their own chart. You only see how many of your invites were rewarded, not who they are. Legal basis: performance of the service you ask for (article 6.1.b). Retention: as long as the accounts exist; everything goes when the account is deleted.
Audience measurement, without cookies. To know whether the site is useful, we count visits. For each page view we keep only: the page (without the part of the address holding your birth details), the site you came from (its domain name, nothing more), the language, the country derived from the connection and the kind of device (phone, tablet or computer). We also count the charts calculated and how they split by type, authority, profile and definition, with no date, time or place.
To count visitors without counting them twice in a day, the server computes a fingerprint from your IP address, your browser and a key drawn at random each day. The IP address is not recorded. The fingerprint and the daily key are erased the next day: there is no way to recognise you from one day to the next or to trace it back to you. Nothing is stored on your device. The daily totals, which hold nothing about you, are kept as long as the site exists. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in knowing how the site is used (article 6.1.f).
Your email, if you ask. Below your chart, you can download your user manual on 1 page (a PDF created in your browser: your first name and your chart are not sent to us). It needs no email and no consent: your address is kept only if you tick a box to get our emails about news on the site or to be told when full readings open. Below the compatibility page, you can also ask to be told when full readings open. We then keep your address, the date, the page where you left it, your language and the consents you gave, to send you these emails. Consent boxes are never ticked in advance. We also count how many PDFs are obtained each day, with nothing about you. Legal basis: your consent (article 6.1.a), which you can withdraw at any time through the unsubscribe link in the email or by writing to us. Retention: until you unsubscribe, and at most 3 years without hearing from you. To prevent abuse of the form, a same-day fingerprint of your IP address (never the address itself) is kept until the next day at most.
Payments, once sales open. Purchases will be handled by Lemon Squeezy, acting as merchant of record: it takes the payment, issues the invoice and handles VAT. We never see your card details. Lemon Squeezy sends us your email, the product bought, the amount and the order status (paid, refunded), so we can give you access and help if something goes wrong. The purchase is linked to the account with the same email, right away or when you create it. Legal basis: performance of the contract (article 6.1.b) and our accounting duties (article 6.1.c). Retention: for as long as the relationship lasts, then what the law requires for accounting records (10 years at most).
Technical data. Like any host, Netlify sees incoming requests (IP address, browser, requested page) and may keep them for a limited time in its logs, to run and secure the site. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a working, protected site (article 6.1.f).
Your messages. If you email us, we keep the conversation to answer you, then at most 3 years after the last message. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in replying to you.
We do no advertising profiling and no automated decision with legal effect on you.
What stays on your device
Your browser keeps two settings in local storage: the language you chose and the chart view (simple or detailed). If you sign in to your account, it also keeps your sign-in session so you stay signed in; it goes when you sign out. If you arrive through an invite link, it keeps its code for 30 days, to attach it when you create your account. Nothing else, and no setting is sent back to us. You can erase them by clearing this site’s data in your browser. Fonts are hosted on our own site: no outside service is called while you browse.
Who else has access
- Netlify, Inc. (United States): hosts the site and the calculation, stores the visit statistics.
- Supabase (servers in the European Union, in Paris): accounts, email sign-in, saved charts, purchases, credits, readings and the news list.
- Lemon Squeezy (United States), once sales open: payment, invoice and VAT.
- ImprovMX and Google (Gmail) : routing and reading of emails sent to contact@cartaora.fr.
These providers may process data outside the European Union, notably in the United States. Such transfers rely on the safeguards set by the GDPR: the European Commission adequacy decision for companies certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, or standard contractual clauses. We never sell, rent or trade your data.
Your rights
If you have an account, two rights take one click from your account page: download all your data (JSON file) and delete your account.
You can ask to access, correct, erase, restrict, object to or receive a copy of your data. Write to contact@cartaora.fr. We answer within one month. To remove your email from the list, one message is enough: it is erased. Without an account, your birth details are never recorded, so there is nothing to erase on that side.
If you think your rights are not respected, you can lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority (CNIL) : cnil.fr, or with the authority of your own country.
Changes
When we add features (subscription, other emails), this page will be updated before they open, with the new providers and retention periods.
